Duties and Responsibilities: They function in a non-sterile and sterile capacities by creating an optimal environment for surgical patients. There are three types of operating room technicians or surgical technologists. These positions are scrub surgical technologists, circulation surgical technologist and second assisting technologist. Each is responsible for different duties. They are responsible for various pre-, intra and post-surgery duties within the hospital. Surgeons and registered nurses supervise their work.
Salary: $45,940
Education: You may need to take a certified exam. You also must complete a 9- to 24-month degree program from an institution. You need to undergo a 2-year hospital training program, or earn seven years of professional experience in the field to be qualified for the certification exam. The certifications must be renewed ever four and five years.
Demand:  The BLS expects the rate of growth for surgical technologist to be faster than average, at 15%, during the 2014 to 2024 decade; the median annual salary for this career was $44,330 according to the BLS in May 2015.
Reflection: No i think i would not like to become a Operating Room Technician because I believe I wouldn’t be able to do the operation procedures on people. Also i believe i wouldn’t be able to handle intense situations. I am also not comfortable around blood and intense injuries.
