Duties and Responsibilities: Neurosurgeons examine, diagnose and surgically treat disorders of the nervous system. They perform surgery on the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves to remove tumors, relieve chronic pain and treat wounds, vascular disorders and diseases such as Parkinson’s and epilepsy.

Education: Before residency training, neurosurgeons must complete four years of undergraduate school followed by four years of medical school. They then take 6-7 years if neurosurgical residency training. Over the next six years, residents complete a total of at leats 42 months training in core clinical neurosurgery.
