“ Kindness is the essence of greatness ”

In my opinion I believe that the statement means that towards the essence of greatness you have to become kind. You always need to be kind so others can treat you the same although many people may be not so kind. You have to treat others the way you would want to be treated. I believe that Joseph B. Wirthlin wrote this statement because he has experienced it, that you need to be kind. I think he figured out that acts of kindness will always make a person grateful and happy. For example Honda always does the Random Acts of Kindness, they sometimes do it for random people or someone who really needs it. They give out money, cars, education: etc. To be kind you need to show it,  liking yourself enough to be yourself and accepting others for who they are.
