“Goodness is the only investment that never fails.”
~Henry David Thoreau

What the statement means to me is the goodness is the only way to become successful. You cannot do bad actions and succeed, it is not possible. Also what I believe what Henry David Thoreau meant is if you are good and respectful to people it will never backfire. For example if someone accidentally dropped their wallet on the ground and does not know then you have to do the right thing and return it to the proper owner. Then you will get good karma but if you decide to keep the wallet then you will get bad karma because you did not choose the right. You always have to do what is right. If you always choose the wrong and make bad decisions then you will regret t when you become an adult. When you’re older you will think about what you did when you were a child and you will be ashamed for the bad actions you did.

“ My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.”
~ Theodore Hesburgh (Former President of Notre Dame)

I agree with Theodore Hesburgh about the quote above. I agree with him because sometimes there can be more than one right answer to fix the problem or solution.  The decision you choose to make can say a lot about your beliefs , values and the person you’ve became.  But many people make mistakes. For example sometimes good people make the wrong decision. They may have messed up and put other people down but not on purpose. Also that doesn’t make them bad people, we all make mistakes. We need to be able to know what is right the right decision or what is the wrong decision. Also if you make a bad decision people would just assume you are a bad person. Many people judge others on the way they act or behavior but you do not know the reason they’re like that , so you need to think about that before you judge someone.

“It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound”
~Joseph Smith

What this statement is trying to mean is you always have to put in effort to do or make good actions. You always have to do what is right not what you think is right. Also you have have to use the freedom you have to make things right and fair. In some way you have to put other people first, for example you have to imagine yourself in that persons’ shoes. But if you use the freedom you have to make terrible decisions that would just be horrible. For example Donald Trump uses his job as “president” to make stupid actions that he should’t make, he used a bomb on Syria for no reason. They did not not harm us in any way at all and now world war three is about to happen.
