Duties and Responsibilities:
Health educators provide an education programs to help people and communities make a healthy lifestyle choices. A health educator career teaches people what they need to maintain wellness. Also develops a program to encourage healthy decision-making at all ages. They can act as a generalist or focus on children, families or elderly or a specific illness.
Salary:
$43,840 per year
$21.08 per hour
Education:
A certified health educator is a health educator who has passed a test in order to demonstrate academic knowledge in the field. Then tend to work at a nonprofit organizations and schools. Required education is a bachelor’s degree or higher education, public health education or health promotion. You need to pass a certified education specialist exam.
Demand or Need for this profession:
Employment of health educators and community health workers is projected to grow 13 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. Growth will be to improve health outcomes and to reduce healthcare costs by teaching people healthy habits and behaviors and explaining how to use healthcare services.
